Christmas music is AWESOME.
I’ve been making Christmas playlists since high school, back when I was really cool and made personalized mixed cds for all of my friends (truly, will I ever be that cool again?? Here’s hoping.)
Now thanks to Spotify, finding new and interesting Christmas music is much easier than it used to be, but even so, I have a soft spot for the classics. Those memory-ridden tunes from days of yore.
You’ll find a mixture of old and new classics here, but I did my best to keep the quality A+. For as many great songs of the season there are, there must be at least 3x the number of strange, somber, and just plain bad Christmas songs out there.
I divided these Christmas playlists into four categories: classics, extra fun classics (aka my favorites), modern/ modern-ish, and dreamy (the most eclectic mix by far).
I had intended to create a party playlist with Run DMC’s Christmas in Hollis and NSYNC’s Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday headlining, but I found it too difficult to assemble fully without repeating titles– I may put one together a little later on and share!
Mistletoe + Holly
listen nowThe classics! If this doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit I’m not sure what will.
My personal favorite on the list: The Nutcracker Suite by Les Brown & His Band of Renown. You may recognize it from Elf.
Oh What Fun!
listen nowPeppy, silly, and fun classics- most which happen to be my all time favorite Christmas songs.
Louis Armstrong’s Cool Yule and ‘Zat You Santa Claus? are cream of the crop.
Wonderful Christmastime
listen nowA collection of modern and (modern-ish) Christmas covers and original songs, including a few classics like its namesake by Paul McCartney.
