I don’t know about you, but the thought of having to make an individual cocktail for every single one of my guests stresses me out more than a trip to the DMV 😱 The horror!! Luckily, this autumnal pitcher cocktail is perfect for a crowd, and the spiced syrup and pear puree can even be made ahead!
I love this particular pitcher cocktail for Thanksgiving, not only because of its festive flavors, but because ginger and star anise just happen to be good for the digestive system! What! Healthy and delicious!
Sparkling Spiced Pear Pitcher Cocktail Recipe
Sparkling Spiced Pear Pitcher Cocktail
Make the pear puree a day ahead and the spiced syrup up to two weeks before and store in the refrigerator!
Servings: 6 -8 servings
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 whole star anise, plus more for garnishing
- 6 whole cloves
- 3 ripe bartlett pears peeled, cored, and roughly chopped
- 1 inch piece ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 1.5 cups champagne
- 2.5 cups sparkling water
- 1 cup Vodka
- 1 sliced barlett pear for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, water, cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat, stir, and allow to cool.
- While the syrup cools, puree the pears and the ginger with the lemon juice in a food processor until smooth.
- Fit a fine mesh strainer over a large pitcher. Strain the pear mixture into the pitcher, using a spoon to press all of the liquid out of the pulp. Discard the pulp, then pour the spiced honey syrup through the mesh strainer into the pitcher.
- Add the champagne, sparkling water, vodka, and ice to the pitcher and stir well.
- Serve garnished with pear slices and star anise.
