This DIY houseplant trellis is ridiculously easy to make. In less than 10 minutes your favorite climbing plant will have a cute little halo! Your indoor plant will love having something to climb, and you’ll have a unique statement piece of home decor. I’ve got mine in a wall-mounted planter with a philodendron, but this trellis can be placed in any kind of pot with any kind of climbing plant, from a hoya to a pothos.

Let’s get into how to make it!
DIY Houseplant Trellis Materials:
- A metal wreath frame
Available at craft stores. I used a 10″ frame, but use whatever size suits your plant best. - Floral wire
Any gauge will do. - A yard stake
Yard stakes are usually about 6″ long. If your planter is more shallow than this, you may be able to trim the stake shorter (carefully) using wire cutters.

Assembly:
- First, position the yard stake onto the wreath frame so that one leg is on either side of the frame. It will cross the frame at an angle.
- Then, use the floral wire to wrap around both the frame and the stake several times until the bond feels secure. The stake will be able to move slightly, but the plant will likely not be heavy enough to tip it over. When the wrap feels secure, simply clip the wire.

- Sink the stake into the soil of the planter gently:

- Get your plant started on its new support by winding a tendril around the frame. If your plant isn’t long enough to wind, wait it out and help it along when it is.

You’re done!
That’s it! Enjoy!
